More About Our Guests
Jessica Williams is an actress, writer, and all-around funny lady and is currently a correspondent for Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.” She credits her ability to be hilarious to her very large funny bone. No really, she has been six feet tall since she was in middle school. Jessica is now a “comedic animal,” blood-thirsty for the giggles of others. She has feasted at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in LA and at the NYC comedy/storytelling series “2 Dope Queens,” co-hosted with Phoebe Robinson — which is becoming a WNYC podcast. A lot of people have died laughing.
Dick Cavett has been nominated for eleven Emmys (most recently in 2012 for HBO’s “Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again”) and won three. Cavett’s television career has defined excellence in the interview format. He started at ABC in 1968 and also enjoyed success on USA, CNBC, and PBS, which aired “Dick Cavett’s Watergate” (2014) and “Dick Cavett’s Vietnam” (2015). He has appeared in movies and plays on/off-Broadway, and his four acclaimed books include two collections of his New York Times opinion column: “Talk Show” (2010) and “Brief Encounters” (2014).
A singer-songwriter gifted with a rare idiosyncratic charm, Emmy The Great released debut album “First Love” to critical acclaim in 2009 with follow up “Virtue” (2011) winning equally impressive plaudits. Songs that walk the line between heartbreaking fragility and bold, wit-laden observations on the human condition continue to enthrall all who hear them. Her highly anticipated third album “Second Love,” is out now via Bella Union.
Update:
Sana Amanat, Director of Content & Character Development at Marvel Entertainment, can no longer appear at the event. From Sana:
I am so very sorry I’ll no longer be able to attend the Dinner Party! I was so looking forward to it and hope I can get invited to participate again on a later date. Apparently being an adult means I have to actually do my job — which means I have to travel on business last minute. I hope I am not missed — though come on, Jessica Williams is all anyone needs.
