Sanitation Workers Win the Right to Nap
The Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation established new rules for workers, including a ban on using their break times to take naps. That was done to prevent a PR fiasco if a member of the public were to see the driver apparently sleeping on the job - but, as a result of a lengthy class-action lawsuit, the rules are costing the city a bit more than some negative press. $26 million more, in fact. Stacey Vanek Smith, currently a senior reporter for Marketplace, explains how the powerful pro-napping lobby won again.
