This week back in 1905, South African miner Frederick Wells unearthed a record-breaking royal treasure. We celebrate his discovery with this glistening cocktail:
The Sparkling Diamond

Carved out by The Library Bar, in the jewel city of Johannesburg.
Ingredients:
- 1 ounce vanilla liqueur – preferably Galliano Vanilla
- 1 ounce cranberry juice
- 2 teaspoons lime juice
- 1 teaspoon simple sugar syrup
- 3 ounces champagne, preferably an opulent French one
Instructions:
Serve it in a champagne flute, rimmed with sugar (for extra sparkle). Take one sip, then another, and try not to faint from the extravagance of it all.
