Acclaimed Texan filmmaker Richard Linklater (“Dazed and Confused,” “School Of Rock”) schools us in “Aggie” grammar. Linklater’s new movie “Bernie,” starring Jack Black, opened the LA Film Festival on Thursday night.

A History Lesson with Booze: The First Blood Transfusion & “The Bloody Corpse”
This week back in 1667 the first successful human blood transfusion took place… which is not to say the ones that followed were successful. Listen to the wild and woolly story, then replace part of your bloodstream with this hangover cure – the mutant offspring of a Bloody Mary and a Corpse Reviver #2.

In a shaker, muddle:
- 1 slice blood orange
- 1 dash absinthe
Then add:
- 2/3 oz. lemon juice
- 2/3 oz. red Lillet
- 2/3 oz. Triple sec
- 3/4 oz. gin
Shake and transfer into martini glass. Serve with a shot of spicy tomato juice. Take a few healthy swigs (don’t be sheepish!) and feel it flood your veins. O, and B positive.

Richard Ayoade is one of the best-known comic actors in Britain thanks to his starring roles in TV comedies like “The I.T. Crowd” and “Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place” (which he co-created). This month, stateside audiences can check out his feature-film directing debut: the acclaimed coming-of-age indie “Submarine.” Richard tells Rico about the cult leader that dwells in the hearts of all men… and about his leading man’s biking skills. Or lack thereof.
