Sun Kil Moon – ‘I Love Portugal’
Mark Kozelek was the songwriter behind '90s indie band Red House Painters. Since then he's released a bunch of albums under his own name and under the moniker Sun Kil Moon. That project's new album is called "Common As Light and Love Are Valleys Red With Blood." The songs are almost like diary entries. Tinariwen – ‘Assawt’
Tinariwen are a group of blues-playing Tuareg musicians from the Sahara Desert region of northern Mali. The band had to flee their homeland due to political unrest and have recorded their last two albums at a studio in Joshua Tree California. The latest one is called "Elwan." It just came out. Here's a track from it called "Assawt."
Arcade Fire – ‘I Give You Power’
Never shy about addressing current events, a couple weeks back indie-music giants Arcade Fire released a new song called "I Give You Power." It features rhythm and blues great Mavis Staples.
Elliott Smith – ‘I Figured You Out’
Back in 1997, the late great singer-songwriter Eliot Smith put out an album of sad, hushed songs called "Either/Or." In a few months, it gets reissued in honor of its 20th anniversary, and it features outtakes like this one called, "I Figured You Out."
Emmy the Great – ‘Who Knows Where the Time Goes?’
We revisit a song, recorded live at our show in New York last Spring, which we've never shared before. It's from one of our favorite folk-pop musicians, the aptly named Emmy the Great. She serenaded us with a cover of a Sandy Denny tune.
Sandy’s – ‘Surfy Christmas’
Since it's that time of year, we thought a holiday song might be appropriate. It's a brand new one written by Sandy's - a band obsessed with all things surfing and this track is no different. It's called "Surfy Christmas."

Amber Coffman's stunning voice and gorgeous harmonies are a big component of beloved indie group The Dirty Projectors. She recently announced a forthcoming solo album called, "City of No Reply." Here's the first single. It's entitled, appropriately, "All to Myself."
